Photography should be fun right? I want my clients to feel extremely comfortable, carefree, and fun when we shoot.
I create true friendships with my clients, and we really have fun. By the time the wedding day rolls around,
we are so comfortable with each other that it truly brings out the best shots.
I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. Here I can share a little of myself with photos, geekstuff, tech,
or whatever else I feel like rambling about. So if you want to have fun, make your bridal shoot feel like a model shoot,
let's shoot!!!

Vacation in Phoenix
I'm spending a couple days in Phoenix and this was a great sunset I
caught with my phone. I'm sure it doesn't look as good as it did in
person but pretty nonetheless

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Take time to think of all the blessings that have come your way. I am reading a book called "Come Thirsty" by Max Lucado and there is a great little poem in there. You may say "what blessings?" and question His ways, the plans He has for your life. Just read this:
He writes in characters too grand
For our short sight to understand;
We catch but broken strokes , and try
To fathom all the mystery
Of withered hopes, of death, of life,
The endless war, the useless strife,
But there, with larger, clearer sight,
We shall see this - His way was right.
Written by John Oxenham in 1913

iPhone is HERE!!!!
Well it's official.. everyone knows I'm a huge Apple supporter, so i'm sure you knew i would be getting a iPhone right?
Well you're right. I decided i would stand in line at a AT&T wireless store on Austin Highway if the line wasn't long. Well i drove up at 4:30pm. The news was already out that store were going to close 2 hours early to get ready, then start selling them at 6pm. I was about 15th in line, so i thought it wouldn't be bad. the 1 1/2 hours went by fast cause the people you were standing next to became your friend! I got it, got out at 6:30pm and came home with my iPhone!
All i can say is the commercials, pictures, and online videos DO NOT do this phone justice. It is AMAZING. it really is revolutionary and like no other phone on the market.
For more info on it go here: http://www.apple.com/iphone
So for now enjoy these pics of my new phone!

It's been a while...
Haven't posted in a while, so i thought i'd let everyone know what's been going on. As most of you know I moved from Hawaii to San Antonio in May. I had a lot of work scheduled for San Antonio, so I decided to come here for a while and see how it goes. I really miss Hawaii, maybe one day i'll make it back there.
So since i've moved back i've been all over too. I flew back to Maui for Stephanie and Erik's wedding. I flew to Arizona and went to the Grand Canyon. Talk about a big whole in the earth! and now i've finally moved into my own place, and been setting everything up. My office, meeting room, etc... it's been very chaotic, but i'm still alive. I've booked a couple of weddings. Everyone will get to meet Heather and David in the next couple months, and also very shortly you'll be meeting Brooke and Kevin.
In the midst of all that i did find the time to shoot a wedding. Amanda and Carl out in Helotes, TX. It was fun. The ceremony was outside and luckily it didn't start raining until the reception which was moved inside, so the ceremony was spared and made for a great setting outdoors. I'll post some shots here soon.
In the meantime everyone knows I love music, so i'd thought i'd share some of my favorites at the moment (because it changes every week!)
All my recommendations link directly to iTunes so you can listen if you like!
I know this ones been out for years, but i recently put it back in rotation:
This one is low key kinda jazzy but more about the lyrics...
Nick Lowe - "The Convincer"
This one you may have heard on a iPod commercial. This band is a very fun energetic rock band. very infectious!
The Fratellis - "Costello Music"
Ok one last one, which i'm playing way too much right now, but can't get enough. mellow alternative is my way to describe it:
Wilco - "Sky Blue Sky"
Well that's enough to keep you busy for the next couple days. looks for some new photos up here soon!

New Business Card... Help me decide
Ok I think i have it narrowed down to 4 designs for a new business card. I need your help in deciding which one you like, so i'm taking a poll. Email me and let me know which one you like the best. Keep in mind all my pertinent data will be on the backside of the card, so i'm just trying to decide on the "face" of the card. So... which one do you like better?

Go Spurs Go!

Just wanted to show some support for my beloved San Antonio Spurs. Battling in the western conference finals right now against Utah Jazz. Is it the Spurs year again to win the championship? 99, 03, 05, 07? it is a odd year so things are looking good, especially the way the Spurs are playing right now.
What do you think?

Out Of Office Alert!!!

Well i'm off to Maui to shoot Stephanie and Erik's wedding. It's going to be at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Destination weddings are a popular thing these days. It's setup to be a intimate wedding with around 40 guests flying in. The reception is going to be held at the Old Lahaina Luau. So this looks like it's going to be a awesome time for everyone! Stay tuned for some quick pics of Maui and the wedding. The wedding is scheduled for May 11th, this coming Friday. Wish me luck, but don't be jealous! ;-)

Someone else likes my website!

I use a program called Freeway Pro to design websites, including my own. Well I posted a link in a forum for people to see what I created using Freeway, and got a email from Softpress (the maker of Freeway). They asked if I ever submitted my site to them so they could put it in their gallery. I hadn't cause I really didn't know about their gallery. Well I do know! take a look.

Where in the world is Brian?
Well as many of you may or may not know. I'm currently in Honolulu, Hawaii, but I will soon be changing my base location to San Antonio, TX. Why on earth would I leave Hawaii, you ask? Great question. And my so called answer.... I get to travel around a lot doing photography, so i've decided it makes more sense to base out of the mainland (continental U.S.) It will be so much cheaper for me to live in San Antonio while I build my photography business. San Antonio is one of the cheapest places in the US to live. It's great for starving artist :-)
So while I will REALLY hate leaving the beautiful state of Hawaii, I will defintely be back often to visit, shoot weddings, etc. It's one of the most beautiful places i've ever lived. Go check out my Hawaii Gallery in my portfolio on my main website to see for yourself!
So for all my friends and family back in San Antonio, we'll have to get together and do lunch or something. Can't wait to see everyone. It's been a while!

Today's a good day...
Well I just got through making a significant update to my main website http://www.brianmedia.net
I always seem to want to tweak and play with it all the time. It's the perfectionist in me. I changed the about page to a 'information' page. on this new page a broke down some of the major details. Adding things like investment, bio, my tools, etc adds a little more info for prespective clients to learn a little more about my photography and what i provide. This information page will be tweaked more than the others as I find or think of more information that might be beneficial.
So I hope you like it. leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Focusing Tip
Just wanted to share a focusing tip I recently came across. I'll explain it from a Nikon D200 prespective, but I know it can be setup on Canon's as well.
This tip basically takes the focusing out of the shutter button. The D200 has a button on the back of the camera next to the AE-L button (and next to where your thumb usually sits) called AF-ON. In the D200 menu item number a6 - AF Activation needs to be set to AF-ON Only. This is essence turns the AF Activation to Off, and leaves to focusing strictly to the AF-ON button.
After some getting use to you might find it so much easier to use this way. I know I did. There are lots of advantages to this method... One is mainly nailing your focus the first time. If you are shooting a portrait where the subject isn't moving you can set focus, take the pic, and review in the display to make sure the focus is on and sharp... Then you can shoot several other pics without having the camera try to refocus every time you take another pic.
Like I said, there are other advantages, which we can talk about later, but maybe you can share your like or dislike for this method. What do you think about it?
